Best Buys of 2009: Garden Arbor & Outdoor Pergola
Every year we play a game at our house. My husband picks one thing he wants to do and I pick another and we compare at the end of the year as to who picked the best what. Our focus for 2009 was the outside living area in our backyard, which looked like something out of a dried up lot! Though we added grass and a deck, I had decided along time ago that what I wanted was one of those beautiful garden arbors with the high arch; the kind of thing you see in magazines.
On the other hand, my husband has always wanted one of those big outdoor pergolas to lounge underneath on a cool evening and drink beer with his buddies or the occasional glass of wine with me on a romantic evening. The game was on and we went all out to make our little piece of the backyard a hit. After everything was said and done, we both had to admit it was a tie. The arbor is spectacular in both design and application and has been beautiful to gaze at every day and the pergola has also been fantastic to enjoy in the evenings. There has also been more than the occasional romantic evening as well and I will never complain about that!
